Some notes on things specifically to improve in the Wailing Death campaign.
Add in the expansion weapons into stores, and crafting materials especially spell ones for scrolls and wands.
Add in general lore into whatever lore browser (book collecting might be fun!).
Comments suggest there was 2 phases to his fight; he'd be resurrected when killed unless Zelieph severs his link to Gulnan.
The next two area said while attacking the player, before he has been killed once and returned
The next four are said while attacking the player, after he has been killed once and returned
the last is said when Zelieph destroys the link to Gulnan.
Drawl has additional voicelines marked with a *:
vs_ndrawlm_050 | You should never have left, Walters. Look at what I have now! (Walters response is vs_nnwgrdm3_056 | You look like hell, man. Dead doesn't suit you.) vs_ndrawlm_051 | See what you lost? I am powerful now! She has given me this! vs_ndrawlm_052 | You can never leave the gang... I will have Gulnan kill you last so you see everything fall! vs_ndrawlm_053 | Who are you to come here?! Do your worst! You will see how futile it is! vs_ndrawlm_054 | Yes, fight! You'll see! You'll see! vs_ndrawlm_055 | You cannot defeat me! Gulnan has made me immortal! *vs_ndrawlm_056 | Give up and die! You cannot kill me! I will always come back! *vs_ndrawlm_057 | Sword Coast Boys can never die now! I will always come back! *vs_ndrawlm_058 | She grants me power! I will return and return and return! vs_ndrawlm_059 | No! NO! Not the link! Her power must reach me! I am strong! I am strong with her help! I AM!! |
Going by the comment it is kind of;
Sadly no TLK lines for 56-58.
Who is Zelieph? Apparently he was Dwarl's brother, now a spirit. He's still in the Palette albeit incomplete, with his scripts and conversation missing, but he has voiced lines and a custom voice set, and obviously has some items in the game as well.
vs_nzeliepm_050 | "I sense him! Drawl! Brother! YOU took everything! I will not allow it! Your master will not have everything" vs_nzeliepm_051 | "Brother Drawl! You will pay! Vengeance for my eyes, my life. If i could see! If I could find! I-I could follow my former life!" vs_nzeliepm_052 | "I...cannot see. Where is Krestal? Walters? I will not follow you. You have nothing of mine to lead me. Lead to Drawl and vengeance!" vs_nzeliepm_053 | "You! You have something of mine? You know what was done? Drawl must pay! Brother Drawl!" I think the below are used by another NPC in Wailing Death. vs_nzeliepm_054 | "Get awaysss! You leaveess now!" vs_nzeliepm_055 | "Haves you the amulet? Did you finds it? Flesh?" vs_nzeliepm_056 | "Flesh comesss back! Will listen now? Me so needsss amulet! Me does!" vs_nzeliepm_057 | "Flesh comes back! What flesh wants? Will listen now!" vs_nzeliepm_058 | "No hurts! No hurts! Me needsss to speak to the living flesh...needsss to speak!" |
Walters also talked about Zelieph, Drawl's brother and the only man that Drawl was truly afraid of. Drawl killed Zelieph, but Walters still feels like Zelieph is around, as though his ghost haunts the district and follows him sometimes. He's stopped carrying Zelieph's dagger because of it."
(NB the quest is shortened/unrewarding; even a guide mentions this being odd!)
So it appears it'd have worked like this:
A decent enough way to potentially do this is to have Drawl fight with the players in the same place as usual, die, but not immediately resurrect. Walters then talks to them, the players must decide to go get Zelieph involved as there are moans and eventually Drawl returns and fights again (but won't leave the area).
Zelieph would need to be more easily found/pointed out (empty house somewhere perhaps? or new area? guarding one of his precious items so you only need to find the other?) and return, cool cutscene, and new final fight.
The cutscene hasn't got perfect voicelines but can probably have a go;
While is appearance is a Lich, the voiceset is actually "Wrath, Drawl" suggesting he was meant to be a Wraith. This doesn't make as much sense, a custom appearance would perhaps be better though - a skeleton head with a more normal body perhaps would make more sense, clinging onto some semblance of his past. He's also not a spellcaster (he's just so. damn. dumb) but some undead powers and ability to call more Sword Coast Boys might be fun additions to make him tougher. His original blueprint has Stinking Cloud, quite a powerful spell, but his blueprint is essentially unfinished.
Add some more minions to his room or have his minions come to him when the fight starts. Add some additional spells.
Sadly there's no custom voice lines for him. The other Fanatical voiced cultists do have some potentially appropriate lines but probably are used in Chapter 2 or 3 by the sounds of it (need to find them).
She's actually reasonably powerful for a 1 PC + henchman, especially the multiple undead and her actually very hard hitting stats.
For an improved fight what could you really add? Additional undead being spawned is probably the main one. Or even better resurrecting her current undead (no XP given out for them) until she dies and they all die with her.
vs_ngulnanf_060.wav might be better used as a death cry then actually a random attack line.
